Gordman’s Printable Coupon & Store Review

gordman's

I had the opportunity to check out the new Gordman’s at the Ft. Union location. If you haven’t had a chance to visit one of the five Utah locations, you should take a look. In Utah Gordman’s stores are located in American Fork, Midvale, The South Jordan District, Farmington Station and in Riverdale.

For those who haven’t visited yet, I thought I would highlight some of the things I loved and give you a chance to see what they have to offer.

gordman1

Of course they have clothing and accessories for all ages and sizes.  I picked up a cute skirt for my daughter in the Junior’s department for 60% off retail and combined that with a 20% off coupon (coupons are available most every week) – for a great price! What I really loved was an entertainment area to keep the kids occupied while you shop – they have some of the most adorable kids clothing. I also noticed some great prices in the toy section with prices cheaper than most other retailers.

I loved all the fun gardening items in all kinds of bright colors. I went looking for some things to add to my home decor and left with some kitchen decor items and a new clock – all at great prices!

If you haven’t yet, sign-up for Gordman’s email alerts and they will email you periodic coupons (usually 20% off). Also, while I was there I signed up for the Gordman’s loyalty rewards card (similar to a Smith’s reward card) where Members earn one point for every dollar spent in participating stores. For every 200 points earned, receive a $10 reward certificate.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, you can snag a coupon for 20% off 1 Single Item, Exp 5/12.

Local Spotlight: Gardner Village – The Bead Farm

I have a new local spotlight to share with you. Remember the beaded necklace from Novica I purchased a while back. Well, I got it caught on the zipper of my jacket and when I went to take off my jacket it broke. :(

The Bead Farm

It looked like I could easily fix it with the right materials, so I decided to take the opportunity to hop on over to The Bead Farm in Gardner Village and see if they had the needed supplies for a fix. I had been wanting to visit this shop for quite awhile and am so glad I did. The owner Callie, is crazy! She’s fun, welcoming and is following her dream of being a local business owner.

Seriously, I am in love with this little shop and can’t wait to go back for an evening project. At The Bead Farm you will find every bead and boggle you can think of to make yourself a fun piece of jewelry.

Being the Gardner Village, you would think this shop might be pricey. Think again,  Bead prices are very reasonable and you don’t have to purchase an entire bag of beads. Every boggle and bead is priced individually. You can create your masterpiece on the spot, without having a bunch of extras. Beads start as low as $0.05.

Take your treasures home, or sign-up for one of their classes and have a girls night out. The above pictured items are samples of some of the classes you can take. Even sweeter, class attendees get an additional 10% off their purchase on the day of the class. Classes are around $12 and up (depending on the project) and include everything you need to complete your work of art.

Or, if you prefer, you can purchase one of Callie’s had made creations right from the shelf. Next time you are at Gardner Village, don’t walk past this awesome local shop. I urge you to stop in and take a browse around, you are sure to find something to go with your favorite outfit. If you don’t, just make it. Tell them Coupons4Utah sent you.

A special thanks to my new friend Callie, for showing me around her fun shop. Oh… and my necklace? Callie was able to sit down with and help me make an easy fix.

Girls’ Night Out at University of Utah South Jordan Health Center – Follow Up Review

business-spotlight

I’ve decided to make the University of Utah Girls Night Out this weeks Local Business Spotlight. While, Doctors and the University aren’t small business, this event is, what I consider to be, an important issue. Who of us can’t use some free unsolicited professional medical advice, right?

(Myself, Mary Nichols, Michelle, EnjoyUtah, Audrey, TightWadInUtah)

When the University of Utah, invited me to come out and review their event, I was honored for the opportunity  And, in truth, I would have gone anyway; except for one thing… just like you, I’m busy. Lets face it we all have pressures in life that keep us from breaking out of the normal routine. But, this event is an important one for women. I urge you, the next time they have one, grab a girlfriend, sister, mom or meet me there and take the time to go.

(Healthy Cooking, Infant Care, Eye Care, Cosmetic and Skin Care)

We experienced healthy cooking demonstrations, free eye exams, advice for new and soon to be mothers, cancer experts are on hand to answer your concerns,  plastic surgeons, dermatologists, infertility experts and you can even partake in a free massage. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The new state of the art Medical facility at Daybreak, is beautiful and welcoming. I felt pampered with the free Hors d’ oeuvres, sparkling juice and berries and even a coat check!

mary nichols

The highlight of the evening, was hearing Mary Nichols speak. She is gracious, motivating, funny and one of the most inspiring speakers I have had the honor of meeting. Her open and honest words about her fight with cancer and how it effected those around her, are reminders to us all to get checked. As Mary puts it, everyone with boobs is at risk.

Getting regular checkups, is easy to put off and often difficult to discuss. The environment was comfortable and made it easy to talk about. While I’m up to date on my mammograms, I was inspired to make a long overdue appointment for my first and dreaded Colonoscopy. Thank you Mary and the University Health Care Center for putting the bee in my bottom :)

The next time the University hosts an event like this, get out and go! It’s fun, informative and an evening away from the ordinary.

Local Business Spotlight: The Honey Stop

Honey stop 2

We are starting something new. As bargain shoppers and local Utah gals, we thought it would be fun to start featuring some of our favorite local shops. You know, the secret little stores that only the locals know about. We hope you like this idea, please “LIKE” “Share” & “Tweet” if you do.

honey stop 1

Utah has a VERY cool new store! Check out The Honey Stop, located in Downtown Salt Lake on 159 East 800 South. The Honey Stop sells raw wildflower honey from regions all over the world. You can sample honey like Brazilian Pepper from Florida, Tropical Blossom from Brazil and my personal favorite,  Blackberry from Oregon. Of course, there is also honey from our good old fashioned Utah Clover too.

The Honey Stop

My new friend Peter, a former Pilot and world traveler, the owner of the Honey Stop, learned the benefits of the raw honey while living in Russia. Peter tells me that honey consists mostly of natural sugars, that provide the body with immediate energy. It has nutritional value, in the form of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and active enzymes and also contains antibiotic benefits. What I can tell you, It’s Delish! I’ve had toast and honey for breakfast everyday, since visiting his shop..warning.. it’s slightly addicting.

Honey stop 3

The store also carries a variety of Gift Baskets, Honey Skin Care items, fresh pollen and even Honey wound care. Prices for 12 oz jar start at $7.50 depending on region.

Coupons? Did someone say coupon? Hop on over here to Yelp, where currently you can snag a $10 Honey Stop coupon voucher for $5.00, plus, see what others are saying about this cool new shop. This offer is EXTREMELY time limited, as their prices are already very reasonable. Grab the voucher now, you have the entire year to use it.

Plus, be sure to check out The Honey Stop website, there is a wealth of information on it, including some intriguing recipes for Tonics, Scrubs and Wound Care. You can also sign up for their monthly newsletter.

Special thanks to my new friend Peter, owner of The Honey Stop,  for showing me around his fun store. Visit Peter’s Facebook page, The Honey Guy, here.

It is so much fun to mill the isles, there is something for everyone in this little shop. Whether it’s a custom painted vintage furniture piece or, the a finishing touch piece for a difficult spot, you will find a one of a kind unique treasure at this shop.

Utah Old Flamingo Vintage Shop

The Old Flamingo

If you are looking for a solution to a problem spot in your home, you will find it at The Old Flamingo, if you don’t, I bet one of the artist will make it for you. Check out the piece a friend of mine had them do for her home. The Old Flamingo customized the above pictured hutch to the finish of their liking and put a special hole that lines up right with the mail slot in the house. It’s hard to tell with the lighting, but on the top of the hutch they painted the word “Mailbox” in French and have dubbed it Utah’s largest mailbox. What a clever solution!

Put this fun store on your list next time you are on the hunt for some eclectic treasures. Tell them Coupons4Utah sent you. Have you been to The Old Flamingo? What did you find?

Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus – What’s It Like?

Strangling Haunted Circus Review

I have not been to a haunted production in over 15 years so, when the folks at Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus asked me to come out and take a scary Halloween stroll through their Circus tents I was a little apprehensive. Me??.. in my 50+ years I have to admit, I thought I had walked my last Haunted walk years ago. Hum.. It did sound fun.

When you first enter main tent, you’ll be entertained by Odyssey Dance Company (Friday & Saturday) dressed in full zombie attire dancing to Thriller. There are also several spooky clowns on hand to keep you entertained and apprehensive while awaiting your fate.

Once inside the trailers, you are transported through a world of evil and surprisingly, I found myself heavy of breath and uttering screams like an unseasoned 12 year old girl. The effects are very realistic and well put together and the performers are top notch!

On your journey of terror, you will experience all things that set your mind a chill. From the evil clowns, to the demented doctors set on amputating your next of kin, there is a little something special for those with claustrophobia, arachnophobia and coulrophobia, they leave no paranormal terror behind.

In retrospect, I’m not sure who laughed more at my reaction to this terrifying journey through the minds most scariest thoughts, the hubs or the players of doom.

My hat goes off to the creators and performers of this Circus Nightmare. I would urge folks go explore this before Halloween is over. And, a special note to those that thought they were beyond the years of Haunted Walks, grab the one you like to hold close, put yourself in Halloween spirit and try something other than a movie.

Happy Haunting!

Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus:

Our Giveaway – Ends 10/10

**Special note: To the fun boy in line, that let me take his picture at the Circus. My biggest apologizes, the pictured turned out blurry. I am so sorry, I messed up the shot. :(
