A while ago I posted about a site called Julep.com. Julep is a beauty club that features mani and pedi products. Currently new members can use code COLOR2012 at check out and score their first box for a penny. Since this penny offer is available again I thought I’d do a follow up post.
My box contained 2 nail polishes, a 3 oz tube of Age Defying Hand Brightener and a sample of SPF 30 hand cream. The products value on site is $40. I have to say I like the products. The polish itself dries FAST! One thing to note is that because of the quick drying agent you do need a good top coat, otherwise the polish lacks shine. I had read a few reviews that said the polish chips easily.
I personally did not experience chipping. I used the polish on my toes with an Orly brand top coat and it has lasted very well. Note the picture above has right side with no top coat and left side with top coat and was taken 1 week after polish. On a side note, I always use rubbing alcohol on my nail beds prior to polish to remove any excess oils. It’s supposed to help with chipping?..
As for the hand cream, it’s nice, but the smell is a little strong for my “unscented” taste. I have however, had people say it smells good to them. And, it’s not pungent, just fresh. However, I would not pay for it.
My second order contained 2 more polishes and a product I would consider paying for, the Julep Essential Cuticle Oil. I love the roll on bottle, the smell of the oil and how it works. It’s pricy though, $18 on the site.
Julep is a monthly club. So, after your penny box arrives you are automatically signed up for monthly boxes for a cost of $19.99. Communication is great. You will receive an email reminder on the 2oth of the month, prior to being charged, with a details of that months box. You can choose to cancel that month’s shipment prior to billing, by logging into your account before the 25th at midnight PST. I’m thinking $19.99 is expensive for these boxes. HOWEVER, you can cancel the month’s shipment online and keep your account open. I like that you can send them as gifts.
