How To Dye Easter Eggs With Kool-Aid

I’ve seen the idea of dying various things with Kool-Aid. Most recently I found a wonderful idea called Crockpot Yarn Dying on this blog here. Go check it out.

So, I thought I’d give dying Easter Eggs a try. I boiled up a few eggs, and into the Kool-Aid they went. I mixed the Kool-Aid packet in 1 cup of water. That’s it, no vinegar needed. The results are quite beautiful. As they dry they begin to speckle.

I tried 5 different flavors, Grape, Cherry, Lemon Lime, Strawberry and Orange. When I removed them, I put them on a cooling rack setting on top of a paper towel lined cookie sheet to dry.

I have to admit, when I took out the grape, I thought it was pretty ugly. When wet, it looked dark blackish brown. I was disappointed it wasn’t purple. But, as it dried, it actually turned out to be a favorite. I think the bluish, brown color is quite unique. Although it is a bit reminiscent of an avocado amongst the rest of the spring colors.

I love how they look nestled in Easter Grass all ready for the big hunt.

And, lets not leave out, Kool-Aid is 5 for $1 at Smith’s. No coupon needed.

Hard Boiled Eggs Recipe: Grilled Bacon & Cheese Eggs

What to do with all those eggs? I saw this recipe on Pinterest and had to give it a try. It’s so simple and makes for a nice little lunch or snack. I’m amazed this tasty snack isn’t a well known traditional recipe.

And, it was even more fun, that the ingredients are all recent coupon items.

Slice hard-boiled eggs in half, put in muffin tins to keep them from rolling around. Sprinkle them with a mixture of Panko, bacon bits and salt. Bake at 350 until the cheese melts. Note: I tried under the broiler and they cook too fast. You can see the one in the back got a little over toasty.

What’s Coupons4Utah all about? Welcome new readers.

I wanted to take a minute to welcome our new readers. Coupons4Utah is a little family project. We started the site as a hobby of sorts, a way bring myself and my son closer together. We figured what better way than to help everyday folks save a few bucks. And started by sharing with friends and family. Now, the whole family is in on the deal finding action. Each day we hunt around for various coupons, discounts and freebies and publish what we think is worth your valuable time. What gets published? It’s simple, the things we would do or purchase for ourselves.

A Simple Recipe That’s Sure to Impress: Mini Caprese Bites

Do you need an idea for an upcoming Easter gathering. Check out these little bites I just pinned to SaltwaterSavers Pinterest board. Isn’t it great when something is simple and impressive?

Ingredients

1 pt. cherry tomatoes, halved

1/2 pound fresh mozzarella, cut into cubes

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Fresh basil leaves

Kosher salt and pepper to taste

Directions

1. Thread 1 basil leaf, tomato half, 1 piece of cheese, and another tomato half onto toothpicks. Place toothpicks in a shallow serving dish.

2. Whisk together oil and next 3 ingredients. Drizzle oil mixture over skewers; sprinkle with basil and salt and pepper to taste.

Just below the “Photos” button, there’s a pull-down menu marked highlights. Click on that and choose”Posts by Page.

That’s going to line up to posts. When you get to end of the posts click on “See More Recent Stories” and they will just keep lining up. Head on over and try it out>>
