Sunday’s Feel Good Picture…Angry Bird Addict? Check Out These Cute Magnets!

………………………………………(photo @MomentsWithTheMontano’s)

This post has nothing to do with coupons. This is just such a cute idea. My granddaughter, like so many other kids, has taken to Angry Birds. Crafting is something I enjoy and when I saw this idea I had to share.

Check out these cute magnets you can make. They look super simple and only require a few common supplies. Visit Moments With The Montano’s Blogspot for complete directions. If you are having a lazy day at home, this looks like a great project to do with the kidlets. I’m super excited to make ours.

**On a side note, there are 3 FREE Angry Birds iPhone/iPod/iPad apps available:

Angry Birds Free

Angry Birds Rio Free

Angry Birds Seasons Free

Thanks so much @Thrifty101 & @MomentsWithThe Montanos!

The End Of Coupons At JC Penney Is Here

Have you been to the new JCP yet? It’s on my list of to do’s this weekend. Unless you never turn on the tube, chances are you’ve seen JC Penney’s commercial. Huh…The one in the bathrobe looks vaguely familiar. ;)

JC Penney has a new CEO. Apple executive, turned CEO of JCP, Ron Johnson and their new President Michael Francis are bringing back what they have coined as “Fair & Square” pricing.

Their basic strategy is that an item that was previously priced for $10, and ended up selling for $3 will now just be priced for $4 from the start.

According to Johnson 72% of JCP’s revenue came from products sold at a discount of 50% or more. CEO Johnson says, “We think it’s time to reclaim our price integrity,” Stating that the coupon strategy over the holiday’s made the company look “desperate. We’re committed to regaining consumer trust.”

So, there you have it. The end of coupons at JCP. As a bargain hunter, it’s a hard sell for me. Plus, I’m wondering how many extra dollars my now cheaper JCP item is costing me because of the huge commercial campaign, that most people don’t understand. And, will there really be no more coupons? Does it mean I can unsubscribe from their emails? What about the $10 off $25!….. NOOOOO!

In all seriousness though, for everyday consumers, it could be a good move, IF they stick with the low price promise. What are your thoughts. Have you been to the store yet? Head to their Facebook wall to see what fans are saying.

You can read a related story by the SL Tribune here.

Thanks to reader Karen who emailed wondering what in the world is with that commercial?

**NOTE: This piece is NOT sponsored by JCP. The youtube video was added for the heck of it. :)

Facebook Scam Alert

I don’t usually make these kinds of posts, but I know many of our readers use Facebook. I’m sure some of you have seen that Facebook is is getting a new look. The new look is called “timeline.” I’m guessing many of you have already switched over. Regardless of how you feel about timeline, Facebook reports that all Facebook users will be required to make the switch to the new look.

Last night, 1/26, KUTV’s Matt Gephardt, reported that there are several scammers running ads that promote a way to avoid or disable the new look and warns that ALL of these offers are “false and simply not true. If you click on any of the links or install the apps you’re really giving a scammer access to your computer or your Facebook account.”

If you missed Matt Gephardt’s report you can view it here.

Important Message To The Customers Of Digital Doorstep & Daily Deal Gift Card Purchases

Cards, cards and more cards…

If you are a frequent visitor of the site you likely have seen offers coming from Daily Deals sites via Digital Doorstep. We’ve seen these gift card offers come from daily deal sites like SpreeBird, PlumDistrict and Eversave. Yesterday, 1/19,  Digital Doorstep filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

The most recent offer on this site came from Plum District. If you purchased the Target Gift Card or Starbucks gift card offer you should have already received an email and a full refund or credit to your account, depending on how you paid.

If you have other current vouchers that direct you to Digital Doorstep, you’ll need to return to the website/daily deal site where you purchased your product and they will either issue you a full refund or deliver the product themselves. If you prefer, you can also enter your code and information and Digital Doorstep will forward it to the daily deal site from which you made your purchase.

If you have problems with the website you purchased from you should contact your credit card company and have the charges reversed. With exception to the Plum District Target offer (which has been credited), I myself have received all of my offered gift cards that have previously been posted on the site. Hopefully, all of you have experienced the same.

One a side note:  In regards to Plum District. I am extremely impressed with how they have handled this issue. Our Utah Plum Deals finder, Michelle, has been in constant contact with me in assuring that all Plum obligations were handled quickly and without dispute. If you have not received credit for your Plum District purchase, you can contact them through the contact link at the bottom of their home page.

…………………………………………………………………………………………..

I also want to add a personal note, I don’t take posting these deals lightly. The offers I post are with companies I’m either working with or am ordering from myself. I never take your hard earned  money lightly. It is always forefront in my mind. If you have an unresolved issue with a company that you saw posted on this site, please feel free to email me. While I can’t guarantee resolution, I can try to help get you in contact with someone at the offering company.

Sunday’s Feel Good Picture – Our Superman Wedding

I mentioned my friends over at Joe’s Trophy are offering a Living Social. Pay $10 for $20 worth of engraving or merchandise. Plus, there is a special offer from Triscut, where after you make your purchase, you can watch a short video and receive $5 Living Social Bucks. So, it’s like paying $5 for the $20 worth of gifts. I love Joe’s Trophy shop. They have all kinds of gifty items.

I wanted to share a picture of the Campaign glasses that Joe’s engraved for my daughters wedding. Keep in mind, prices for glass etching varies by job and your $20 voucher is not going to cover the full cost of this kind of etching. It should put a good dent in the cost though.

Brides Superman Shoes…………….Winter Wonderland………………Grooms Cake …………..

Superman? Their wedding had a hint of Superman. At the time my daughter was a Superman junkie. She walked down the aisle to “Can You Read My Mind” and later Bride and Groom walked together as man and wife to the Superman theme song. So cute!

And here they are, 8 years later, at my Son’s recent wedding, which is my “Sunday Feel Good Picture.” Thanks for putting up with me while I brag. Have a happy day! :)

Revisiting My Crazy Video: 2 Great Deals From Joes Trophy Shop & Santa Monica Pizza

Today an odd set of coincidences presented itself. As I was browsing the deals, two friends popped up.

My amazing and VERY close friend Kerry, the owner of Joe’s Trophy shop, is running a deal on Living Social. Pay $10 for custom engraving on your smart phone or iPad. Or, you can choose $20 of any of their gifts. Joe’s has all kinds of fun gifts. My daughter had a Superman themed wedding (odd, I know, but it turned out to be amazing).  Maybe I’ll post some pictures for Sunday’s feel good picture. We had Joe’s custom etch the toasting glasses with a Superman theme. They were darling!

If you decide to purchase this deal, look for the Triscut offer on the page. After you purchase the deal, watch a short video you get $5 free dealbucks. So, that’s like paying just $5 for the $20 worth of Joe’s.

……………………………………………………………

There is also a RARE discount being offered for Santa Monica Pizza in WEST JORDAN at Jordan Landing. This offer comes from Hubzub. You’ll pay $10 for a coupon valid for $15 worth of yummieness at Santa Monica Pizza. If you are felling like dinner and movie at Jordan Landing, I can absolutely recommend this one! And, as you’ll see in the video, 2 people can eat for $15 at Santa Monica.

……………………………………………………………

So… where’s the odd coincidence? Those of you that have been here for quite a while will remember my completely goofy video attempt from Santa Monica pizza. Meet Kerry, the owner of Joe’s trophy and my one time video guy and very good friend!

Last, I happen to be looking for a video guy or gal and was getting ready to prepare a post about it.

If you are interested in helping me film some future video’s, or you know someone that is, I’d love to here from you. As you can see, you don’t need to be a professional AT ALL! Students, stay at home mom’s with some video knowledge that are looking for a little extra income would probably love this project. contact@coupons4utah.com subject line video

And now, go back in time. Warning: This video clearly needs work.

Oh the agony!  :D

**NOTE: The City Deals mentioned in the video is no longer available. However, if you live, work or play in Sandy or Sugarhouse, they do have various offers for Board Walk Pizza & Pasta.

Community Service Project Results & Winners

I have the winners of the Dialysis Service project to announce but, first I want to thank all those that participated.

This has been a learning experience for me. I have lead service projects in the past but, never one that relied so much on the help of strangers. Going into it, I honestly didn’t know how successful it would be and that gave me a great amount of apprehension. So, to those that donated, again, thank you so much.

I’m happy to tell you that there were enough donations that all 94 patients at the dialysis center will receive a much needed gift of household items. And, I know your gift will lift the spirits of someone in need.

Now, for the winners. Winners, I’ll be in touch with you via email to instruct you on how to claim your prize.

The winner of the Kindle is Kim – kim…o@gmail.com and the winner of the pedicure at File-U-Fancy pedicure is Sandra – ogz…1@msn.com
