Tips for Attending a Utah Skijoring Event
To make the most of your experience at Pro Skijor, keep these tips in mind:
- Dress in Layers: You’ll be standing in the snow for several hours. Wear moisture-wicking base layers, a warm mid-layer, and a waterproof outer shell. Don’t forget high-quality wool socks!
- Arrive Early: These events are popular and parking can fill up quickly. Arriving early ensures you get a good spot along the track to see the jumps and gates up close.
- Bring Seating: While some venues have bleachers, they get very cold. Bring a camping chair and a heavy blanket to sit on (and under) to stay warm.
- Protect Your Eyes: The sun reflecting off the snow can be incredibly bright. Bring polarized sunglasses or even ski goggles if it’s a windy or snowy day.
- Footwear Matters: Wear insulated, waterproof boots with good traction. The spectator areas can become packed snow or slushy throughout the day.
- Check the Schedule: Events often feature different classes (Pro, Sport, and Novice). Check the specific start times for the Heber City, Logan, or Kamas events so you don’t miss the high-flying pro jumps.
