When is Utah's FREE Fishing Day for 2026?
Mark your calendars and grab your gear! FREE Fishing Day is officially happening on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
This is one of my favorite annual traditions because it’s the perfect excuse to get the kids outside without worrying about licenses. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or you haven't picked up a rod in years, everyone in Utah can fish for free on this day. Just remember that while the license is free, all other regular catch limits and fishing rules still apply—so keep an eye on those coolers!
Make it a Weekend Adventure
If you’re anything like me, a day trip usually turns into a “let’s just stay the night” kind of plan. If you want to turn this into a full camping getaway, you’ll want to move fast. These spots fill up faster than a trout hitting a lure on a June morning!

Pro-Tips for 2026
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has released the 2026 guidebook with a few small changes to specific water body limits. If you're heading somewhere new, it’s worth a quick digital thumb-through so you stay on the right side of the law while you're out there having fun!
Utah State Parks – Still a top-tier choice for boat access and clean docks.
You can link here to reserve a campsite in Utah's State Parks, here for National Parks and here for KOA's campgrounds. Book now, it can be hard to get a spot during this particular weekend.

Ready to gear up and book?
- Snag your Gear at Cabela's – I always suggest checking out their fishing starter kits if you’re taking the kids out for the first time.

- Find the Best Utah Campgrounds on Tripadvisor – I love checking the recent traveler photos here to see which sites actually have the best shade before I book.
Tight lines, everyone! I hope to see you out on the water.
